Gale Whitman studied biology and art at Hastings College, Nebraska and has a masters in medical illustration from Colorado State University. After a decade working as a medical illustrator she gradually shifted to more expressive art. Gale illustrated a children's book The Man From Space in 2012, and co-created Good Day: Poetry and Images for Seasons of Optimism in 2014.

 

Gale specializes in murals for her city's Art in Public Places program and has painted many privately commissioned murals, including the two-story "Lolli-poppies" mural in Old Town Fort Collins.

In her art, Gale draws inspiration from nature and the human spirit. Besides mural-ing, she enjoys taking on commissions, 'up-cycling' things, and experimenting with abstract art.​
