What I did last year...

Since I haven't posted on my blog in some time, I'll briefly mention my projects from the past year, and tell you more about individual works in later blog posts.

  • In December 2020 I completed a tree-themed reading nook mural for a couple in Loveland, Colorado

  • I designed and painted three traffic cabinet murals in late summer/fall 2021 for ClimateWise, a City of Fort Collins organization

  • A new housing community in south Fort Collins sponsored a transformer cabinet mural that I completed in November 2021

  • I created a mask for the Museum of Art | Fort Collins' annual Masks exhibit and auction (see below!)

Pieces of Light by Gale Whitman

“Light is a thing that cannot be reproduced, but must be
represented by something else – by color.”
Paul Cezanne

I just LOVE color, don't you? Above is my creation for the Museum of Art | Fort Collins' 2022 Masks Exhibit. I drew inspiration from my 2010 painting "Seasoned Optimism". The sculpture/mosaic on the ceramic mask was made exclusively with globs of dried paint, along with a few salvaged twist ties for structural stability. Click HERE to see my step-by-step photos (with descriptive captions) as I was constructing the piece. The 2022 Masks Exhibit and Auction will be April 1 - May 6, 2022.
