My Paintings in Group Exhibit Celebrating 30 Years of Public Art

This year marks a special milestone for the Fort Collins community: 30 years of the Art in Public Places (APP) program. From transformer cabinet murals and Pianos About Town to sidewalk pavers by local youth and artwork in parks and along trails, APP has transformed the city into a gallery that belongs to all of us.

I am honored to be part of the "Personal Artwork of Public Artists" exhibit (August 29 - October 17, 2025) as one of six artists whose studio work is being showcased. It's a celebration of the artists behind the public art in this 30th Anniversary exhibit.

Ten of my acrylic paintings are included in the exhibit. My 4 expressive paintings portray different aspects of myself: equally influenced by the two hemispheres of my brain; tenderhearted with those I love; striving for "Seasoned Optimism" in a challenging yet incredibly beautiful world; awed by the magic of plant synergy and Indigenous wisdom in "Three Sisters".

Also shown on the gallery walls are 6 panels I painted for my recent "Flourishing Together" mural of Colorado animals in their native habitats. The panels were photographed and printed onto window vinyl, which were installed in windows and doors to complete the 3-wall mural at the Northside Aztlan Community Center. [This project also came to me through the Art in Public Places program!]

Being part of this anniversary is affirmation of the value of public art. I'm grateful to APP for supporting artists, to the many people who walk by or stop and look, to Fort Collins for fostering creativity in everyday spaces.

If you can, I'd love for you to come to the Artist Reception on Friday, October 10, 5:30-7:30pm.

It's a chance to meet the artists and the APP Team and appreciate a diverse collection of styles and media. I'm humbled by the talent in this community!
